Spring Snow

I know I should expect this type of weather. It is beautiful! But…I need some sunshine!

I’m really going to be sad when she gets too old to play mermaid.

Simply Saturday

I did manage to tackle a few pre-move chores around the house. You know those areas that just seem to collect stuff until the “I’ll get to it later” pile gets so deep that getting to it never happens? Well today was the day. Three bags of trash taken out, three boxes of unwanteds to sell or give away, and a priceless feeling of accomplishment!

Every time we move I am amazed at the unnecessary accumulation of stuff. But…we are a home/school/business with seven members. Maybe it’s inevitable? Regardless, it feels great to purge and simplify.

As reward the ladies and I sat down to our embroidery…

VerseClick: a free automatic Bible reference tagger for your web pages.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to add this feature to this blog but I’m just not getting it. Any advice? For instance, where would I find the “page source” or <head> section or end of the <body> area???

Spring = Mud

image

The abundance of pretty white snow we’ve been looking at for the last couple of months is rapidly melting. For us this means we will be surrounded by sloppy mud until we get some sun, wind, and warm temps.

The girls wanted to play outside because “it’s so warm, Mom”. Translation: it’s above freezing for the first time in ages. My first thought was “Of course you do! I just finished all of the laundry!” But I caved in and reminded them to wear their mud boots.

March is here and we have the weather to prove it. Mud, wind and gray skies. But these country girls are making the best of it :D

No-Knead Oatmeal Bread

So I was just sitting here catching up on some reading and eating a piece of fresh out of the oven, slathered with butter,  homemade goodness when it occurred to me that I have made this bread recipe three times now in about a week and each time the bread turns out perfectly.

It is delicious fresh but I am really looking forward to eating it tomorrow…toasted with butter and a little raw honey.

The photo really doesn’t do it justice but my goodness am I enjoying it!

You’ll find the recipe at Alexandra’s Kitchen.

She includes beautiful pictures and step by step instructions.

I made the recipe exactly as written with one exception…I used potato water in place of the plain water…with perfect results each time.

The next time I make it, like probably tomorrow :) , I plan to add some flax and sunflower seeds and reduce the sugar some.

Let me know if you try it!

Enjoy your weekend :D
